British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who is fighting to retain his 10 Downing Street residence as the chief executive of the country and Labour Party leader Keir Starmer hit the temple trail ahead of the weekend closure to the election campaign to the July 04 parliamentary elections to woo the Hindu votes of British Indian origin.

44-year-old Sunak was seen at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Neasden Sunday to promise to keep the commmunity flag flying high in Britain while the nation was struggling to emerge out of an economic mess in the post pandemic era.

61-year-old Keir Starmer chose another Swami Narayan temple in north London in Kingsbury Friday vowing to potential indian voters that he would build a strategic partnership with PM Modi’s government in India. Britain has a sizeable Indian population who are registered British voters.

For the 1st time in the history of Britain, a Hindu Manifesto is being followed by both parties launched by a splinter group of British Hindu outfits calling on elected representatives to take proactive measures to protect Hindu places of worship and tackle anti Hindu hate campaigns by radicals.

Sunak stood on the ramparts of the BAPS Swaminarayan temple saying: “This temple (mandir) stands as a great statement of the contributions that this community makes to Britain”.

Meanwhile, Keith Starmer, was welcomed to the tunes of an India-Scottish pipe ban at the Kingsbury temple where he also began his speech in the same vein with the chant of “Jai Swaminarayan”.
